Selkies are Gallain who transform between human and seal forms; unlike Pooka, the shapechanging kith, Selkies are skinchangers. When in human form, they are always found with a seal coat - once they dive into the water and zip the coat, it becomes their new seal skin. Selkies occupy the spaces between Undersea and Oversea courts of the Fae, fully at home with neither. They feel the call of the ocean strongly, and cannot be away from it for long without beginning to gain Banality from the separation; all of this Banality gained so can be lost by simply spending time in the sea. The seal coat a Selkie wears is in fact the home of his Fae soul; when one Selkie grows too old and ridden with Banality, he passes the coat and the faerie soul inside it along to a younger heir, who then Chrysalises. Selkies are generally genial and attractive, and make friends easily. They usually tend towards professions and lifestyles that keep them near the ocean, for obvious reasons.
Costuming Tips
The most important aspect of a Selkie costume is the Seal Coat - a Selkie has no capability for weaving Glamour (including using Arts; basically anything other than Kenning) if they are not in possession of their coat. The coat can be anything from a fur coat to a wetsuit to a leather belt, and when passed from one owner to the next it may change its form to suit the new Selkie. Besides that, Selkies are generally tan and weathered, with large (usually brown) eyes. They always appear wet in their Fae Mien, and drip chimerical water behind them wherever they go - the best way to do this is probably just to to get wet.
