So you'd like to make a character and join us at The Dark Dream? Well, we'd love to have you! Please read the following information to get you on your way to making a character and playing with us.
1) Talk to the Staff
The first and most important step in creating a character is talking to us about it. The sooner we know you're interested and what you're interested in, the more helpful we can be. Contact the staff at moc.liamg|ffatsmaerdkrad#moc.liamg|ffatsmaerdkrad and tell us who you are, what you're thinking of playing, and anything else you might want help with. We welcome players of all experience levels, from brand new to very experienced.
2) Know the World
The universe that The Dark Dream takes place in is a little bit different from what you might be used to, if you've been playing Changeling: The Dreaming for a while. We've changed the background and history to make it fit the story we'd like to tell; so familiarize yourself. Anything under the "Genre" heading is important - as is anything with the tag "ic".

- A Breakdown of all the Kiths, and a Who's Who of the Game

3) Learn the Rules
We've changed some rules, so read up on our House Rules to see what might be different than the MET you're used to.
AND, no matter what, read the Character Creation section; it gives you information on merits, flaws, freebie points, among other things. You need to read this, or you won't make your sheet correctly.
4) Sheet and Background
Following the rules in Character Creation, write your character's sheet. You are also strongly encouraged to write a background. And you're even more strongly encouraged to write your background before showing up to your first game. Why?
For one thing, backgrounds are required to get a character with any access to Tier 2 or Tier 3 character traits (like being a Sidhe, for instance). For another, when you write a background the staff gets to know your character: we learn what would interest or enrage your character. Then, we write plot designed to pull you in. If we don't have a background from you, we can't do that. Here are a few background templates to start from, if you're stuck.
5) Send It In
We highly, highly, HIGHLY prefer that you send us your sheet and background before showing up at game. We can't guarantee that anyone who walks in the door completely fresh with a sheet and history will actually get to play their character that session: while game is on, sheet and background approval is not a Staff duty. That's what we do during downtime and during the two hours before game when the staff is freely accessible for personal scenes and other player needs.
So send it in early. Attach your sheet (if it's made in Grapevine, please attach a .gex and a .rtf) and background (Word .doc is preferred; please don't inflict .docx on us) and send it to moc.liamg|ffatsmaerdkrad#moc.liamg|ffatsmaerdkrad.
