Code Of Conduct

The Dark Dream has a few simple rules of conduct for out of character behavior that must be adhered to at all times. Many of them are taken from White Wolf'sMind's Eye Theatre "Rules That Thou Shalt Never Break".

No Touching

While it can make for intense roleplay scenarios, it can also make many players feel uncomfortable and ruin their roleplaying experience. Therefore, don't touch other players in or out of character without prior out of character consent.

No Stunts

While it may seem cool for your character to swing from a chandelier, it's not cool for you to do it. Please don't do anything that risks bodily harm to yourself or others, or site damage. If you hurt yourself, it's on your own head, but if you hurt someone else or damage the site you'll be in serious trouble.

No Weapons

No real weapons. This includes: guns (airsoft and live ammunition, basically anything that can actually shoot something), real edged weapons (even the dull-as-anything ones you bought at the Ren Faire), anything with sufficient damaging potential (baseball bats, clubs, sharp things - this last category is completely at Staff discretion as to what is and is not allowed.) What we are happy to see: wooden and plastic prop swords/weapons, boffer weapons, toys, and other crafts projects.

No Drugs or Drinking

Don't have them at game. Don't try and consume them at game. Don't consume them and then come to game. As we're gaming in a public place and a park, this absolutely will not be tolerated.

It's Only A Game

You and the rest of the players are doing this for fun. Taking things too seriously or taking character issues into real life will only spoil everyone's enjoyment, including yours.

Confrontation

If another player or staff member is doing something that upsets you in any way, it is your responsibility to confront them and explain your problem. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, ask a staff member to come along with you. Likewise, if someone brings up a problem with your behavior, it is your responsibility to try and correct that problem as much as possible.

Complaining and Rules Lawyering

The rules are a guideline for telling a story, not inviolate sanctions. The staff reserves the right to do what they feel necessary to tell a good story, and to circumvent certain rules to do so. (This right does not extend to players.) If you have a problem with how a staff member is running something, the middle of the scene is not the time to bring it up. It breaks character and ruins everyone's enjoyment. So wait until an OOC pause to discuss rules questions with the staff.

Children

Any children brought to game will be treated in character as NPC kinain who are the responsibility of the child-bringing character. If the kids want a character sheet or any other accoutrements of roleplaying, they're welcome to it. Player characters are welcome to ignore or interact with them as they please. We will not stop game due to anything children might do unless there is a serious problem or health threat. Be advised that there will be no child-watching services provided at game: your kids, your choice to bring them to game, your responsibility.

Be Mindful of Others

Again, as we are gaming in a public park, other non-game people will be there. Please don't terrorize them, and respect their right to equal use of the space. Also be mindful of legal issues: nothing will break up game faster than a cop car showing up.

Have Fun

You're not here to "win". You're not here to "conquer everyone else". You're here to enjoy yourself, so do so.

Fire

There will be fire at the gamesite for many games, you are not allowed to touch or adjust or do anything with the fire at all without ST permission. Period. There is no bending of this rule we reserve the right to pass out aggrivated damage, beat you with a clue x 4 or ask you to leave the game site if this becomes a problem.

Staff Caveat: We reserve the right to take disciplinary action up to and including hitting you with a Clue x 4, if deemed necessary.*
